CORPORATE DRESSING TIPS

My best advice for corporate dressing is to dress yourself as a BRAND. Its been said that you are "addressed the way you are dressed" your appearance either attracts or repels people. I'm sure you have noticed that when you want to take a photograph that needs a background to enhance it, you don't look for a dirty or scattered place, rather you look for a beautiful scenery to accentuate your beauty. That's what dressing for business success does, it accentuates your business personality.
Dressing for business success gives you an opportunity to be heard in the first place, because a dress is a messenger. It is № doubt that many have lost out on business or employment opportunities because of their appearance. Corporate dressing is a key factor of business endeavor.

Quickly, let's go through some tips for both male and female corporate dressing.
Tips for the gents
1.Shirts: your shirt speak volumes, they should always be crisp and clean, well tailored or fitted. Don't get me wrong !! Not skin tight shirts o0 neither am i suggesting parachute like shirts. Be mindful of the colors and patterns, bright, plain and stripped shirts are office/business friendly.

2.Ties: you can never go wrong with a silk tie for any corporate look. The size of the ties matter, not too big/large nor slim/tin. They can make or mare your appearance. The color, pattern, length and knot style should also be put into consideration. It is advisable for your tie to stop a few inches above the belt, not on, below or far above it. The standard knot is most preferable.

3.Jacket: jackets make you look very official and ready for business. Most often the jacket color should match the trouser. The jacket should not be loose or too tigth on the body cause you may end up looking like an old man or a growing kid that has out grown his jacket. The jacket should not look big nor small for you, perfect is the word. The sleeve of d jacket should be a little above the wrist to give space for the cuff of the shirt to show, the lapels should not be unnecessarily wide and a two button blazer/jacket is never a wrong choice. Neutral colors are the most acceptable for a corporate look.

4.Trouser: the trousers should be straight and properly ironed and tailored. The trouser should neither be big nor skinny. The trouser should not be above d ankle or rolled up neither should it be sweeping the ground cause its lengthy, just on top of the shoe is perfect. Remember that your socks should always match your trouser color and not your shoe color, even though black is never a bad choice.

5.Shoes: a quality italian leather shoe black and brown is a must have for any serious business/corporate dresser. Don't mind me, it may not necessarily be italian, guess you get what i mean. Shine your shoes regularly. Shoes with laces give a classy touch than shoes with buckles. When i say shoes, i mean covered shoes and not sandals or slips.

Ladies
1.Shirts: a well tailored or fitting shirt is what is required for a corporate look and not dresses or gowns. A camisole if worn under a jacket is also flattering. Please note that the shirts should not be too tight to cause distractions most especially the buttons that are meant to cover the upper part of the body. Colors and patterns should not be overlooked as well. Don't wear a casual or street style shirt and claim you are corporate, its not acceptable. The shirts should be long enough at least a couple of inches below the waist.

2.Accessories: a scarf around the neck would make a better statement and impression for a corporate look. Jewelry should be moderate and not excessive as it were for a party or dinner. A waist belt is another piece that should not be ignored. Bags, bags, bags, the bags should be moderate in size.

3.Jackets: many ladies think the jackets are only for men, i beg to differ. Ladies in jackets are nothing short of elegant, most especially fitted jackets.

4.Skirts/Trouser: which ever makes you look comfortable and official in should be the choice. Skirts should not sweep the floor neither should they expose too much skin, like wise the trousers. For the heavily endowed a little free a loose one would do. All tight and body hugging would definitely create another impression. Be cautious with choice of color.

5.Shoes: the shoes should not be such that would cause distraction or noise. Moderate heels or covered shoes are most acceptable and not flat sandals or slips. Mind the shoe colors too, don't wear your party shoes for a corporate look please.

In conclusion grooming is important for both sex, the impression you give matters a whole lot. So always Keep a clean and moderate hair, shave and shape those beards, keep clean nails, spray healthy and environmental friendly cologne, wear little or moderate make-up, guys always have a handkerchief, wear clean socks, get a good office bag for your files and folders, a wrist watch gives the impression that you value time. You can always give your look a different touch with a pocket square or brooch. Don't be carried away by the trends or vogue, its not for the office.
Let me remind you that your clothes communicate and they should show in split seconds that you take opportunities seriously, you are confident, capable, competent and responsible. Communicate the right message. Image they say is everything, always remember men look at the outward appearance and only God looks at the inward.
Look your elegance.

Your clothing style [choose and develop]
Your clothing style goes a long way to reflect the true personality inside. Clothing style however, is also affected by the following: budget constraints, culture and environment. It’s important to develop your own clothing style to express your individuality and what in our company we call your identity. Your clothes should send the right message to your customers, friends and colleagues. Wearing clothing that completely conflicts with your personality is the biggest mistake you can make. You would definetly feel uncomfortable and awkward.
The tips provided below, could help you develop your own style:
1. Understand your values. Are you practical? Does appearance matter to you a great deal? Remember, style doesn’t have to be expensive.

2. Examine the purpose of your clothing. The reason behind your being dressed, are you dressing up based on the occasion? Based on the season? Based on school? Based on your work?

3. Find a role model. if you are having difficulty with understanding your values then look at a couple of your role models and dress like them.A lot of men refer to actors, sports figures, clerics, national or public figures, celebrities to get ideas on what suits them.

4. Be realistic. Most of the time, what’s trendy or in vogue may not complement your bodily features.

5. Get custom tailored clothing. The most important rule in dressing well is using clothes that fit comfortably [we offer such services too].

6. Take time to read. It doesn’t take a day to research on a style that fits your physique. Spend a couple of hours to seek ideas that would fit your skin tone, height, body size and hair color.

7. Inquire. Get advice from your girl friend or wife or woman colleague. Men tend to view wardrobe in terms of whether they would look good in it or not. Their style might not suit you.
Bottom line is, when you try to improve your wardrobe, make sure your choices represent you. Use clothing style to enhance your appeal and direct how your want others to view you [and that is what we call identity].
